The Southern Aurora - A Golden Anniversary

The Southern Aurora  began service between Sydney and Melbourne on April 16th 1962. This luxurious express train made it's final run on the 3rd of August 1989. On retirement the rolling stock passed to the NSW Rail Transport Museum but was maintained as operational carriages not just part of a static display.
To celebrate it's 50th birthday the many sleeper carriages, club and dining cars were put back on the mainline tracks for a tour of NSW, Victoria and Queensland. Here is it's arrival at Grafton City Station.
