Bangalow's main street has undergone huge changes, especially over the last twenty years. This is typified by the 1908 row of 4 shops known as 'The Strand'. Today it is real estate and coffee, coffee and more coffee.
It 1908 it was hessian bags of produce, the delightfully named C.A Wulff & Co's Boot Palace and a barber shop.

Still an impressive place. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteI so much enjoy seeing then and now photos!
ReplyDeleteMe too. I adore the now and then comparisons. Especially here, Mark, where you have teased out the names and the types of shops.
ReplyDeleteVery good comparison through the photos.
ReplyDeleteRegards and best wishes
Great post. Terrific comparison shots.
ReplyDeleteThankfully they haven't pulled them down. The question is, however, is it good coffee?
ReplyDeleteI think it's remarkable that the buildings have stayed pretty much the same! The whole streetscape is so well preserved. In terms of the differences in types of merchandise - well times do change!
ReplyDeleteNice post, Mark!
I too am impressed with how the shops themselves have been so well preserved. Generally there is one how has chosen an ugly built in verandah or some such think to destroy the beauty.
