I would never suggest to anyone to drive through flood waters but I knew the road well, the water wasn't moving, it was only a few inches deep and slowly going down. Still we proceeded slowly and kept looking at the just visible bitumen. I am truly amazed how clear the water was, unlike the thick brownness of the Clarence River.
It was a strange sensation to be driving in the middle of a vast lake that the Ulmarra Swamps have become in the last fortnight.

So refreshing! Good to see. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a good evening!
That was my first impression - that the water looked so clear and bright!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture with all the fresh, clear water!
ReplyDeleteSuperb capture Mark ... Bravo!

ReplyDeleteWhat a shot! So bright and clear!
ReplyDeleteAnd you had time to do a photograph while driving carefully through the water?
ReplyDeleteDriving through water can be very dangerous!
ReplyDeleteYou never know, if there is whole in the road.
Great shot!!
Excellent capture!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fortunate shot you've captured here. Certainly this clear, sparkling water is not what one expects from a swamp. Well done!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant image! I love it. The water really is blue and clear... unusual for a flooded road. I hope the flood waters have receeded a bit.
ReplyDeleteI remember the floods of April 2009 - we lived in South grafton up on the hill and I was about to have my son. We had to park one car at the railway station in Grafton and the other at home. My family had to take the train from Sth Grafton to Grafton to visit me in hospital (the rivers broke their banks just after my husband dropped me at the hospital.
