ReplyDeleteWas intruiged by your heading. Surely no emu along the coast. But the link says 'coastal emu footprint marker'. They would not have used that as a marker unless it was legit.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea, but thought emu were restricted to the dry inland. Golly ...
What a wonderful walk and the added bonus of being able to take a dip in the sea along the way!
ReplyDeleteYes Julie there are Emus on the coast but only a handful left. I see them all the time I'n the fallow canefields but it makes for a terrible picture brown on brown.
ReplyDeleteOver the years cars have been the main course of death for adults and cats dogs for juveniles. They used to be I'n the Bundjulang national park between Iluka and Evans Head but haven't been seen there for a few years so probably gone for good.
I have come across them on the beach and it makes for an amazing experience but not for many years.
They chose the emu track as the symbol for the coast walk and it's on all the signposts.
